  • First, connect your Netgear WiFi extender to the power supply.
  • you need to turn on your Netgear WiFi extender.

  • Now the LED lights start blinking in the green color. (If the LED light does not blink then you need to hold the power button.)
  • Connect your device to the extender using a wired Ethernet or WiFi connection.
  • Wired Ethernet – To connect with a wired Ethernet connection, use an Ethernet cable to connect the Ethernet port on the extender to an Ethernet port on your computer.
  • Wifi Connection – Open the computer or mobile devices connect to the Wi-Fi network name – NETGEAR_EXT and establish a wireless network connection.
  • After the connection with your WiFi-enabled device is established, It blinks LED green lights.
  • Now open the chrome web browser of the connected device.
  • In the address bar insert the www.mywifiext.net or the IP address 192.168.1.250 and hit enter.
  • The New Extender Setup page displays.
  • Click the NEW EXTENDER SETUP button. (If prompted to accept terms and conditions, click or tap YES or I AGREE.)
  • Choose your extender’s admin credentials. (These credentials are used to access your extender’s settings on a web browser. We recommend leaving the default User Name as admin and choosing a password that is different from your WiFi network password.)
  • Select and answer two security questions from the drop-down menus. (These questions are used to recover your extender’s admin credentials if you forget them.)
  • Click or tap NEXT.
  • If your extender asks if you would like to use the NETGEAR Genie to help, click or tap YES or CONTINUE.
  • Your extender searches for local WiFi networks.
  • Select the radio buttons for your network’s 2.4GHz and 5GHz WiFi Network Names (SSID). (If you do not see your networks, click or tap See More.)
  • Click or tap NEXT.
  • Enter your existing network’s password and click or tap NEXT.
  • Select SSIDs and passwords for your extender. (By default, the extender uses the name of your existing network with _2GEXT added to the end for the 2.4GHz band and _5GEXT for the 5GHz band. By default, the password for each band is the same as your existing network.)
  • (Optional) For mesh extenders, you have an option to use the same WiFi name and password as your existing network. Select the Enable One WiFi Name check box to enable this feature if your extender supports it. This allows your extender to use the same WiFi name (SSID) and password as your existing WiFi network.
  •  Click or tap NEXT.
  • The extender applies your settings. This can take a few minutes. The extender displays the WiFi network name (SSID) and password for each of your extender’s bands. Take note of these.
  • On a device that you plan to connect to the extender network, go to the WiFi settings and connect to the extender’s new network.
  • Go back to your web browser, select the checkbox at the bottom of the page, and click or tap CONTINUE.
  • Your extender is now extending your network’s coverage.
  • Complete the registration fields and click the FINISH button to complete the setup. If you do not want to register your extender, click the Skip Registration link.
  • The connection is established successfully.
  • Now, you can unplug the extender from the power or your ethernet cable from your computer and extender. Move the extender to a new location where the signal strength is low or completely absent.
  • Now, check if the router LED glows amber or green plug the extender into an outlet closer to the router and try again. Keep moving the extender to outlets closer to the router until the Router Link LED lights amber or green.
